The Small Ships' Race (2003)Summer 2003. “Buffel” in the North Sea regatta: The Small Ships’ Race.
![]()
We met Dariusz Zielski - owner of the UFO 34 class yacht “Buffel” in 2000, when he took note of our winter voyage to Sweden - he was bringing his yacht from Denmark at the same time. In this way, our few years friendship was born. One of the stages of our friendship, was our crew’s participation in The Small Ships’ Race from Ipswich in England to Delfzijl in Holland on board the “Buffel”. ![]() We reached Ipswich 24 hours before the start of the race, as the only yacht from the Baltic, and the smallest one. However, we reached the finish line third in our class and fifth in the general classification. Our effort and determination made an impression on the organizers- who finally awarded us as many as 3 various prizes.
![]() After returning to Poland, our voyage was nominated to the prestigious, travel awards “Kolosy” in the sailing category.
